The world of computers is grand. Over the years, like the human race, computers have also evolved tremendously. The computers have made the work of the human much easier than it was before, but humans’ excessive reliance on the computer systems has caused them to become dependent and sloppy.
Computers are electronic machines which have been designed to work with the help of information. The word ‘Computer’ has been derived from the Latin word “Computare” which means “programmable machine” or “to calculate”. Charles Babbage is called the ‘Father of Computer”. The first working mechanical computer was designed by Charles Babbage which was known as the Analytical Engine.
A computer is an integrated system of software and hardware components that work together to execute the application and give us a broad and different type of solution. Machinery components of the computer, such as hard disks, wires, circuits, and transistors, are called hardware, whereas the data and the programs are known as the software components of the computer.
Computers are classified into various types based on different criteria. Based on the size, a computer is classified into five types, namely- Micro-computer, Mini-computer, Mainframe Computer, Super Computer, and Workstation.
Everything- matter or phenomenon existing on the earth have its own set of advantages and disadvantages. There are certain benefits of using the computer as it aids in boosting the rate of productivity, it plays a vital role in storing an enlarged amount of information easily, it gives the user the ability to connect with the internet so that they can gain information, browse through the content easily, send emails, access social media platforms, etc., By using computer systems the user can not only store data but can also organize the data in whichever way he/she wants. Lastly, computer systems are built and designed in a manner so that it can help the user to write good English even if he/she is not good at English spelling and grammar. In the same way, if one is not good at memorizing things or doing mathematical calculations, then he/she can use a computer system for the same.
Computers have been a part of our life since the time of the existence of the human species. Earlier people made use of stones, pebbles, and sticks as a form of counting tools. However, as time passed by, there were several advancements seen in the world of technology, and hence over time, a variety of computing devices were innovated and built.
